On Thursday July 14th there was the judging of Bournemouth for the South & South East in Bloom Competition.
Proceedings for the day began at Westbourne Library with the judges, Guy Clifford and Mick Gore, formally being welcomed by the Mayor of Bournemouth to the town.
The Chairman of Bournemouth in Bloom then gave a presentation which included the children from St. Michael’s School whose contribution to the “Community Growth” project had made a significant improvement to peoples lives and also Debbie Anderson from the Royal Bournemouth Hospital who spoke about the Orchard Sensory and Tactile Garden at the newly opened Jigsaw Wing and Bournemouth in Blooms support for this.
There then followed a tour of Bournemouth’s significant horticultural achievements, with specialists from each area explaining what their progress and future plans are. The day ended with a Judges Lunch at the Savoy Hotel, where the judges got a chance to relax and meet with members of the local community.
The sun shone and it was all a “Blooming Marvellous” occasion.
We don’t know the results yet, but we are confidently optimistic. We’ll keep you updated.
